Hello, my name is Garrett Steagall and I attend LHMBC. I am a
dancer at the School for Creative and Performing Arts in
Cincinnati , Ohio . As a junior, it is critical that I actively
engage in my future as a professional dancer and performing
artist. I receive excellent classical training from my teachers
and mentors here at SCPA. My next step is to broaden my dance
training and exposure to the dance world and entertainment
industry through accredited and respected summer intensives.
On April 25th in New York City, Alvin Ailey American Dance
Theatre held auditions for their summer intensive program. This
dance company is dedicated to "promoting the uniqueness of the
African-American cultural experience and the preservation and
enrichment of the American modern dance". This is my dream as
well and the mission to which I am determined to dedicate my
artistic career. I want to dance for this amazing company, and
from my research and close following of both the company and its
artists, I found that twenty-five out of thirty company members
studied in the school. I believe that studying at this school is
an important component to my success in realizing my dream of
eventually joining the company.
I am very happy to say that I have
been accepted into this great program and that I have the
opportunity to dance in New York this summer
.The
only obstacle that stands in my way are the finance.
I need $6,500 for this dream to happen. I have saved $1000
toward this end. I need help with the other $5,500. All expenses
we go towards my housing, tuition, and living expenses in New
york for the 8 week period that I will be living there.
I am asking for a contribution towards this wonderful
experience. This is the moment when I push myself to the next
level of my dance career. Please help me accomplish my goal.
